West Midlands Project Management is an independent consultancy run from Herefordshire, working across the West Midlands. You deal with the person doing the work — there is no account manager in between, and no team of juniors the job quietly gets handed down to.

There are thirty years of getting things delivered behind that. Roughly twenty in the private sector and ten in the public, starting at the bottom and ending up at board level.

The later part meant running programmes as a Regional Programme Director in the NHS — multi award winning, PRINCE2, MSP and Agile certified, over £100 million of work delivered, and £6 million saved in 6 months, on one project alone.

Cost reduction is a recurring thread through that work — taking a programme that is spending more than it is delivering and finding the savings without quietly cutting the scope everyone is still expecting. The £6 million above came out of one such exercise, and it is the sort of project we are asked for most often.

None of that, on its own, gets a stalled project moving again. What it means is that when the plan says one thing and the delivery says another, we can tell you which one to believe, and what it will actually take to close the gap. That approach has earned national recognition, including a City of London Police Commendation and an NHS England award for COVID-19 recovery delivery.

Most of that work now is for small and medium businesses across the West Midlands — organisations carrying a project big enough to hurt if it goes wrong, without a full-time project office to absorb it. We come in for as long as the job needs and hand back a stable delivery, rather than settling in.
